    Installation error: An error occurred trying to download

    You get an error similar to the following:

    URLDownloadToCacheFile failed with HRESULT ‘-2146697208’

    Error: An error occurred trying to download ’https://apps.encyro.com/downloads/outlook/EncyroOutlookAddIn.vsto‘.

    In this case try the following steps (it may not always work):

    1. Open the folder “C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VSTO\10.0”
    2. Rename the file VSTOInstaller.config to VSTOInstaller.bak
    3. Execute the setup.exe file from https://apps.encyro.com/downloads/outlook/setup.exe
    4. Rename the file VSTOInstaller.bak back to its original name of VSTOInstaller.config

    If the above does not work, try these instructions to use standalone installers. Those installers do not download any files on the fly and are likely to succeed without the above error (the drawback of this is option that the installed add-in will not automatically update when Encyro releases a new version).

    (We understand that none of the fixes above are ideal. We are working on providing better options using some of the new interfacing options introduced by Microsoft recently.)
